We're putting 10% in our vacation account, 10% in each of our fun money accounts, 20% to our Scottrade account, and 50% to my husband's car loan.My car needed $350 of repairs this last weekend (crappy 2005 Aveo is breaking down with less than 42,000 miles on it...stupid car), so we thought we'd use the refund, but thanks to our home and auto maintenance fund, we're going to stick to the plan above. My Dad and I stained my cabinets a few years ago a cherrywood color. It saved me from having to replace them. The benefit comes from having a very small kitchen. It's only about 10 feet long and 5 feet wide wall to wall. Also, we are doing all the work ourselves, which helps out incredibly. If you live where that's an option you can get incredible buys for barely or gently used furniture.
